Travian: Legends

Romans, Gauls or Teutons on a shared map, racing to build a Wonder before everyone else.

Travian: Legends is the other founding browser war game and the one with the clearest ending. A round starts with everyone on a fresh map, runs for most of a year, and finishes when an alliance completes a Wonder of the World. Everything between — raiding, settling, trade, the artefacts that appear mid-round — is in service of being in that alliance when the Wonder goes up.

The tribes are a real choice. Romans build fast and fight well but are expensive, Gauls defend and trap, Teutons raid cheaply and often; newer tribes add their own twists. The early game is about resource fields and raiding inactive neighbours; by the middle of a round you are managing several villages and a hero with equipment and adventures.

Time is the cost. Three short visits a day keep villages productive, but raiding efficiently means more, and the endgame is as demanding as any game here. Speed servers compress a round into a few weeks for people who want the arc without the year. The browser client has been refreshed over the years and is clear; the app covers the essentials.

Gold buys Travian Plus (a convenience bundle most regulars run), production bonuses and instant completion of builds, and on competitive servers the Wonder race is pay-assisted. A free player can be a useful alliance member and can win a Wonder as part of one, but the account that does the heavy lifting usually spends. The depth and the structure of a round that ends are why it stays on the map.

Stay for the evening if…

  • You want a round with a finish line, even a distant one
  • You enjoy choosing a tribe and playing to its strengths
  • A speed server appeals as a way to try it

Settle the bill early if…

  • A year-long commitment is too long and a speed server too short
  • You dislike being raided while you sleep
  • You want a game that does not expect three visits a day
