Legal
Privacy
We built this site to collect as little as possible. Here is exactly what that means.
What we collect
Nothing by default. There are no accounts, no newsletter, no analytics and no advertising scripts. Our web server keeps ordinary access logs (your IP address, the page requested, your browser’s user-agent string and the time) for security and error-finding; they are kept for a short period and then deleted.
When you write to us
The contact form runs in your browser and opens your own mail app; nothing is submitted to this site. If you email us, we keep the message for as long as it takes to deal with it and use your address only to reply.
Third-party services
Links to publishers’ sites and support services lead to services with their own privacy policies. Embedded games are external services too: they load only after you press a key, and from that moment their operator may process device and session data under its own policy. You can read every page without starting one.
Cookies and local storage
We set no cookies of our own. Embedded services may store what they need to run while they are open; see the cookies page.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data-protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and complain to your national supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office). Because we hold almost nothing, the honest answer to most requests is “nothing, apart from the email you sent us”. Write to desk@velvetheronlounge.com.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with the date updated at the foot of the page.
